An Impactful Cuban Organization
The Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FHRC) is an impactful Cuban organization working to provide freedom for the Cuban people by supporting human activists in and outside of the country. FHRC is continually developing new initiatives as well as continuing to provide unmatched support to its ally groups in Cuba. This support comes in the form of sending supplies, raising awareness of causes and giving money to those groups who are peacefully striving to make change in their home country.
Cubans are one of the most restricted people groups in the world and lack many basic human rights. The government bears down hard on any form of opposition, whether it is peaceful or not, and imprisons many human rights activists every year. There are also families being separated, people being kicked out of their own country, major travel restrictions and unjust violence constantly occurring under the Cuban government. FHRC is a Cuban organization that desires to put an end to these injustices by peaceful means. Beyond supporting groups in Cuba, FHRC works to raise awareness of human rights issues in Cuba all over the world and raise support to oppose the government’s harsh treatment of its people.
Currently FHRC is working on an initiative called “Connect Cuba” that is focused on providing freedom of internet to all Cubans. Many people in Cuba are not able to use the internet at all and those who are able are constantly monitored and censored by the government. This lack of freedom to information and lack of ability to express themselves is not right. As a dedicated Cuban organization working for these rights, FHRC has begun a worldwide petition that will be presented to major governing authorities in order to pressure the Cuban government to change its policies concerning the openness of the internet. The foundation is also raising financial support for this cause. Learn more at http://www.connectcuba.org/.
